Master vs. Composition (The Two Halves of Your Song)

A song is two separate copyrights. The sound recording is the master: that specific audio file. The underlying composition is the publishing: the melody, lyrics, and musical work. Owning the master only means you own that recording. If you are not controlling and registering the composition, you are only collecting half of what the song generates.

Stop treating the song as one thing

Your distributor collects the master side. You need a publishing administrator like RightsTune to collect the composition side. Two copyrights. Two pipelines. Two checks, if you actually set both up.
