The "I Only Stream in the US" Fallacy
“I live in the US, my fans are in the US, so I only need to register with BMI.”
Spotify and Apple Music are global platforms. If a listener in Germany streams your track, a German society (like GEMA) is in the path of that mechanical royalty. ASCAP or BMI will not cross the ocean to collect your mechanicals from international societies. Your home PRO covers a slice of performance. It does not vacuum up the world’s mechanicals.
You need a global network
RightsTune registers your catalog with societies worldwide so international royalties do not get lost in translation, or dumped into the black box. One US PRO affiliation is a start. It is not a worldwide collection system. Not sure which PRO you need at home? Start with the PRO directory.
Collect the streams that happen outside your zip code.
